RailComm installs remote-control derail system at Ohio CSXT yard

advertisement

Earlier this month, RailComm Inc. installed a remote-control derail system at CSX Transportation’s Stanley Yard near Toledo, Ohio.

RailComm established a point-to-multipoint wireless data communications network using the company’s RADiANT™ Data Radio technology to link the power derail system to a personal computer-based controller in the yard’s tower. RailComm’s DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) software logs the name and trade of each craft controlling a derail machine, and lists the date and time of all derail control activity.

CSXT is using the remote-control system to reduce the time needed to provide derail protection to trains and eliminate manual logging of Federal Railroad Administration-required reports, RailComm said.

RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information systems to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
