President Bush recently announced his intention to nominate Harry Hoglander and Peter Tredick as members of the National Mediation Board (NMB).

A current board member who served a one-year term as NMB chairman, Hoglander would serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring July 1, 2008. He previously served as a legislative assistant to Rep. John Tierney (D-Mass.), captain for Trans World Airline and lieutenant colonel for the U.S. Air Force.

Currently chairman of the Foreign Service Impasse Disputes Panel, Tredick would succeed Edward Fitzmaurice, Jr., whose term expired. Tredick’s term would expire July 1, 2007. He previously served Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. for more than 30 years as a partner, associate, counsel and director of the firm’s labor and employment practice group.

The NMB mediates management-labor disputes in the railroad and airline industries.
