Operation Lifesaver boots up new Web site, unveils new logo

Today, Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OL) launched a new Web site and began using a new logo as part of a re-branding effort aimed at expanding the rail safety education organization’s reach.

The site features a new statistics section including historical data on grade crossing incidents, fatalities and injuries, and figures on trespassing incidents and casualties; a new results section including information on recent educational efforts, presentations, specialty training sessions and special events; an interactive U.S. map designed to help journalists and organizations locate an OL presenter; and additional safety training and OL information.

The organization also redesigned the kids’ section to ease navigation and incorporated the new logo – a stylized railroad crossbuck — throughout the new site.

“The goal of the new logo and Web site is to reiterate our basic safety message: look, listen and live,” said OL President Gerri Hall in a prepared statement. “We also want to redouble our efforts to reach pedestrians, because while the number of vehicle-train collisions continues to drop, the number of people injured or killed while walking or playing on tracks and along rail rights-of-way remains high.”
