American Council of Railroad Women name UP's Marshall 'Woman of the Year'

The American Council of Railroad Women (ACRW) recently presented its 2005 Woman of the Year award to Union Pacific Railroad’s Linda Marshall.

Established in 1989, the award recognizes a woman who initiates or helps implement a program that furthers their company’s goals or makes a significant contribution to the railroad industry, and enhances or advances women’s reputation within the industry.

Marshall, who in her current position analyzes accessorial charges, and handles billing and collections, expanded UP’s annual short-line workshop, which now is considered an industry benchmark, ACRW officials said in a prepared statement. She also serves as editor for various UP newsletters.

In addition, Marshall previously served as a key committee member in the railroad’s first women’s network and currently is a member of the Career and Professional Development Committee of Lead, Educate, Achieve and Develop (LEAD), UP’s new women’s network. She provides personal and professional support to women seeking career advice.
