CN to raise some rates next month

On Oct. 1, Canadian National Railway Co. plans to raise rates 4 percent on about 40 percent of its open tariffs.

The Class I began increasing open-tariff rates Jan. 1 — with some rates rising as much as 10 percent — to offset declining financial performance, increasing operating costs and the strengthening Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar, according to a prepared statement.
