WMATA shuffles board roster

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently named T. Dana Kauffman to serve a one-year term as board chair to succeed Robert Smith, who will continue to serve on the board as a Maryland representative.

Kauffman has served on the WMATA board as a Fairfax County, Va., representative since 1996. Last year, he served as WMATA’s first vice chair.

The board also named District of Columbia representative Gladys Mack first vice chair and Maryland representative Charles Deegan, second vice chair.

Finally, the board named District of Columbia councilman and former mayor Marion Barry an alternate representative for the District of Columbia.
