Today, Union Pacific Railroad announced it appointed Ken Hunt assistant vice president of operations for Los Angeles and the southwestern part of the Western Region.
He will be responsible for the daily operation of 130 trains moving over 3,000 miles of track in southern California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas, as well as intermodal, auto and manifest-train traffic in and out of southern California.
Formerly general superintendent of transportation services, Hunt began his railroading career in 1981 as a management trainee with the Missouri Pacific Railroad, which merged with UP in 1982. He previously served as manager of train operations and director of quality, and held various positions in UP’s engineering department.
