Union Pacific Railroad recently appointed David Barnes assistant vice president of operations in Chicago. He will be responsible for managing about 100 trains that operate daily in and around the Windy City, and coordinating train transfers and operations with other freight and commuter railroads.
Most recently general superintendent of transportation services in Chicago, Barnes has held various operating and management positions since beginning his railroading career in 1971 at UP predecessor Missouri Pacific Railroad.
