South Florida transportation authority taps Oglesby as deputy executive director

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFTRA) yesterday announced the appointment of Mikel Oglesby as deputy executive director.

In his new role, Oglesby will oversee SFTRA's daily operations, managing everything from administration and human resources to engineering and construction. He'll also negotiate with outside agencies' developers and contractors.

Prior to his appointment, Oglesby held a variety of transportation-related posts, including those involving fixed-route bus services, para-transit services, and light- and heavy-rail service and maintenance. More recently, he ran his own consulting firm, Oglesby Consulting LLC, where he worked with both public and private entities.

Earlier in his career, he served as assistant general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for over a decade, as well as general manager of SunLine Transit Agency in California.
