Robert Primus has been sworn in as the newest member of the Surface Transportation Board (STB).
A Democratic congressional staffer from New Jersey, Primus' nomination to the STB was confirmed Nov. 18, 2020, board officials said in a press release.
For the past 29 years, Primus has served in various positions in Congress. In 1991, he began his government service with the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey. From 2002 to 2018, Primus was chief of staff for former U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano of Massachusetts, and more recently for U.S. Rep. Tony Cardenas of California.
Primus worked on a broad range of policy areas, with a keen interest in freight- and passenger-rail transportation, STB officials said.
