The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority’s (MARTA) board earlier this month elected 2021 officers and added three members to its 13-member body representing Atlanta, and Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton counties in Georgia.
DeKalb County Board Representative Rita Scott will serve as MARTA's new chair, and Clayton County Board Representative Roberta Abdul-Salaam will serve as vice chair. MARTA'S board also elected Rod Frierson as secretary and Robbie Ashe, treasurer.
Next month, Stacy Blakley, Katie Powers and Reginald Snyder will join MARTA's board as members. They will replace outgoing members Alicia Ivey, Jerry Griffin and Roderick Edmond, MARTA officials said in a press release.
Earlier this month, MARTA's board appointed Leah Ward Sears general counsel. Sears is a partner at Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLC, and previously served as chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court.
