Tomorrow, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) expects to name its new leader.
On Monday at a special meeting, agency officials interviewed three finalists for the position of general manager and CEO. The finalists are:
Cleveland Ferguson III, the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, a role he's held since 2023 after joining the authority in 2015 as senior VP and chief administrative officer;
Jonathan Hunt, MARTA's interim GM and CEO since August 2025 who joined the agency in 2014 and spent more than a decade in its legal department as chief of corporate law and real estate, and later as deputy chief counsel; and
Leroy Jones, the executive VP and chief operating officer of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (a role he assumed in 2025), who has more than 26 years of service there, including stints as superintendent of track maintenance, VP and senior VP of Bus Services, and chief transportation officer.
MARTA's board now will convene tomorrow at its regularly scheduled meeting and board members expect to deliberate about the three candidates in an executive session.
"The board anticipates it will select and announce the permanent GM/CEO at that meeting," MARTA officials said in a press release.
