MARTA names Hunt GM/CEO

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has named Jonathan Hunt general manager and CEO following a special executive session at yesterday's board meeting. 

Hunt joined the agency in 2014 and spent more than a decade in its legal department as chief of corporate law and real estate, and later became deputy chief counsel. He has served as interim GM and CEO since August 2025, following the departure of Collie Greenwood. 

During that time, Hunt led MARTA through the redesign of its bus network, the replacement of its Breeze fare payment system and the implementation of the city’s first bus rapid transit line, MARTA officials said in a press release. He also oversaw operations, safety and customer experience during the FIFA World Cup this summer.

“Over the past year, Jonathan has demonstrated strong leadership and adept decision-making, guiding MARTA through its largest and most complex periods of improvement in its history," said MARTA Chair Jennifer Ide. "At the same time, he has strengthened stakeholder relationships, improved public and employee engagement, and ensured the customer is always front and center."

Hunt was one of three finalists interviewed on Monday.

Previously, Hunt served as senior assistant city attorney for the city of Atlanta, practiced law and was a project engineer with Gilbane Building Co. He serves on the American Public Transportation Association's board and chairs its legal affairs committee.
