On Wednesday, the Chicago Transit Board named Forrest Claypool president of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).
Prior to joining CTA, he was president of Rise Health, a Chicago health care services company, since 2008. Claypool also has many years of experience in government, including as a commissioner on the Cook County Board, superintendent and chief executive officer of the Chicago Park District, chief of staff for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, deputy state treasurer and deputy commissioner on the Cook County Board of Appeals.
“Forrest is a talented leader and a skilled manager who has extensive experience balancing budgets, finding efficiencies and making strategic capital investments,” said Chicago Transit Board Chairman Terry Peterson in a prepared statement. “He also has earned a reputation as a careful steward of tax dollars, so he will be extremely valuable as we evaluate the ways we perform our core functions.”
