Anacostia Rail taps Bedford as VP of New York & Atlantic Railway

Anacostia Rail Holdings has appointed K.E. (Kirk) Bedford as vice president of New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA).

Bedford brings 26 years of railroad experience to the role. He began his rail career with Union Pacific Railroad, and later served as general manager for Genesee & Wyoming Inc. for 18 years. Most recently, he was assistant GM at Gary Railway Inc., Anacostia officials said yesterday in a press release. 

Bedford is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the first Gulf War.

“NYA streamlines the critical first and last miles of rail movements, making the process seamless," Bedford said. "As I get to know our customers and our team, I look forward to building on the railroad’s strong safety performance, and to helping our customers thrive and grow.” 

Bedford's leadership style encourages a culture of safety, inclusion and professional development for managers, Anacostia officials said.
