Bryan MacDonald was elected chairman of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner route.

An Oxnard, California, city councilman, MacDonald  served as the agency's vice chairman for the past year. He succeeds outgoing Chairman Tony Kranz, who remains a voting board member representing San Diego County.

MacDonald has served on the LOSSAN board since 2014. He was first elected to the Oxnard City Council in November 2008.

"I look forward to working with our member agencies and stakeholders to continue our efforts to improve and expand the Pacific Surfliner service," MacDonald said in a press release.

The LOSSAN agency assumed management for Pacific Surfliner service in July 2015 under an interagency transfer agreement with the state of California. The Pacific Surfliner operates a 351-mile coastal route through San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
