Cincinnati Metro names Grether rail services director

Cincinnati Metro has promoted Paul Grether to director of rail services as part of Metro's involvement in the Cincinnati Streetcar project.

Grether began his career with Metro in 2012 as rail services manager. He is responsible for overseeing the adoption and implementation of the streetcar operating agreement between Metro and the city of Cincinnati, according to a Metro press release.

Previously, Grether worked for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, where he served as manager of streetcar development and was involved in stakeholder coordination between the city of Atlanta and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. He has experience working with Federal Transit Administration grant programs and regulations, rail transit operations and program project management.

Grether also chairs the American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) streetcar subcommittee and is a graduate of the Leadership APTA class of 2011.

Now under construction, the Cincinnati Streetcar system is slated to begin operation in September 2016.
