The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department recently named Wanda Dunham police chief. She has served as interim chief since Gene Wilson resigned from the post at 2005’s end.

Since joining the MARTA police force in 1987, Dunham became the first female member to achieve the ranks of captain, major and assistant chief. She will be the department’s first female and first African American chief.
