AECOM names former deputy transportation secretary Jackson SVP

AECOM Technology Corp. recently named former U.S. Department of Transportation deputy transportation secretary Michael P. Jackson senior vice president. He will be responsible for international business.

Jackson had been expected to succeed Norman Mineta as transportation secretary, but he chose to re-enter the private sector for personal reasons, according to an AECOM statement.

Jackson previously served as chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin IMS’s Transportation Systems and Services, and as SVP and counselor to the president for the American Trucking Associations.

He also has held several positions within the executive branch of the federal government, including special assistant to the president and executive secretary for cabinet liaison during the first Bush Administration, and press spokesman and deputy chief of staff to the secretary of education during the Reagan Administration.

AECOM provides design, engineering and consulting services, and program and construction management for the transportation industry.
