Rail News: Passenger Rail
VIA Rail Canada Inc. recently added a fourth 21-car train set to its Canadian service, which operates three times a week between Vancouver and Toronto.
VIA Rail has experienced some delays on trains leaving Vancouver. During the next several months, the fourth train set will be on stand-by to ensure on-time departures in the city. The additional train set also will help reduce overtime, maintenance and recovery costs.
VIA Rail tested an extra train set during the off-season. In summer, when tourist travel peaks, the agency plans to use all four train sets.
