UTA to reduce fares; Altamont Commuter Express to raise ticket prices
advertisement
On April 1, Utah Transit Authority’s (UTA) fares will drop — as in go down instead of up.
The agency plans to eliminate two fuel surcharges that were implemented last year. Although UTA also will implement a fare increase that originally was scheduled to take effect Jan. 1 — but was postponed because of economic conditions — fares still will fall because of the combined effect of the measures.
Base ticket prices will drop from $2.25 to $2; monthly passes, from $74.50 to $67; and premium monthly passes, from $175 to $162.
Meanwhile, Altamont Commuter Express’ fare increase will take effect on Feb. 2. The agency will hike ticket prices about 3 percent.
