Tyco Electronics to provide wire, cables for Santa Clara LRVs
advertisement
Kinkisharyo Inc. Dec. 12 contracted with Menlo Park, Calif.-based Tyco Electronics to provide wire and cable for 70 light rail vehicles (LRVs) Kinkisharyo is constructing for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
Tyco’s Raychem ZA100A zero-halogen product is smaller and designed to reduce LRV weight by as much as 500 pounds per car, as well as help meet transit agency smoke and toxicity criteria with its low fire risk.
The wiring is produced in the United Kingdom, sold in the United States, and will be shipped to Japan where Kinkisharyo is constructing VTA’s cars. The cars then would be sent to the United States for final assembly and delivered to VTA.
