The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is calling on industry experts and state leaders to determine the state’s transportation needs. Yesterday, the agency announced it created the Ohio 21st Century Transportation Priorities Task Force, which will hold statewide “transportation conversations” centered on ways to promote a multi-modal system, maximize public investment and generate economic development.
The task force will be led by Columbus Chamber President Ty Marsh, who will serve as chairman, as well as Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Montgomery County Commissioner Deborah Lieberman, who will serve as vice chairs. Other members include Ohio Rail Road Association President Art Arnold, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Chief Executive Officer Joseph Calabrese, Ohio Trucking Association President Larry Davis, and Cleveland Port Authority VP of Strategic Development Rose Ann DeLeon.
The group will hold its inaugural meeting May 7 at ODOT’s Columbus office. The task force is expected to release a final report in fall, in anticipation of the state’s next biennium budget and the authorization of a new federal transportation bill.
