Taiwan Railway awards communications contract to Motorola
advertisement
Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) recently awarded a multi-million dollar contract to Motorola Inc. to provide a train dispatch radio system for more than 680 track miles and 200 stations.
The TErrestrail Trucked RAdio (TETRA) integrated digital communications system would upgrade TRA’s existing analog communications by providing enhanced voice and data capabilities across the railway’s network. The system would enable calls to be set up anywhere in the network, boosting TRA’s service and public safety, according to a prepared statement.
Expected to be implemented by the end of 2005, the system would be Asia-Pacific’s largest TETRA railway network, Motorola said.
