advertisement
Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system is gaining some high-tech video equipment courtesy of Optelecom Inc., which June 14 was awarded an initial $1.3 million contract by Singapore Technologies Ltd. to design and supply multiple Video Distribution Systems for trains.
More than 40 new MRT trains and 60 light rail vehicles will be retrofitted over the next 18 months with Optelecom’s Vehicle Passenger Information System (VPIS), which includes liquid crystal displays, and light emitting diode and video distribution systems.
The VPIS is designed to provide passengers with up-to-date news and events.
