advertisement
U.S. Department of Transportation Sept. 10 awarded Sacramento Regional Transit District $34 million in Federal Transit Administration funds for final design and construction of South Sacramento Light Rail Corridor.
The 6.3-mile extension with six stations would run between Sacramento and Meadowview Road. Officials expect daily ridership to build to 25,000 passengers per day in 2015.
The project’s total cost is $222 million; SacRT and FTA entered a full funding grant agreement in June 1997 with a $111.2 million federal commitment.
