SACRT completes light-rail bridge
advertisement
Although it wasn’t part of Sacramento Regional Transit District's (SACRT) light-rail extension plan, the Florin Road bridge was completed ahead of schedule, bringing the agency one step closer to the extension’s September opening.
The $6.8 million bridge was added to the $222 million, 6.3-mile extension after community residents voiced concerns about traffic congestion if a light-rail crossing was installed at Florin Road.
The project is being funded by Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality program and local Measure A appropriations, and city of Sacramento funds.
The South Line would extend light-rail service from downtown Sacramento to Meadowview Road, and provide seven new stations. The line is expected to add 15,000 daily passengers to SACRT’s system.
