The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) recently adopted a resolution to eliminate the fare for the OKC Streetcar and establish a zero-fare service.
The OKC Streetcar operates seven days a week in Oklahoma City across two loops with 22 stops using seven modern streetcars. The service is operated by EMBARK, which is governed by COTPA.
EMBARK established a pilot program in January to test whether eliminating fares would increase streetcar usage. An analysis of ridership in first-half 2025 and first-half 2026 shows OKC Streetcar usage increased by an average of 71% month over month, EMBARK officials said in a press release.
"As our city continues to invest in projects and host major events coming to downtown Oklahoma City, the streetcar can improve downtown circulation, help ease traffic congestion and boost economic activity for downtown businesses," said EMBARK Director Jesse Rush.
