MARTA cuts 'up close' parking fees
advertisement
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) officials hope that halving parking fees in selected locations will encourage more commuters to ride the rails.
Based on preliminary results of a program is a six-month feasibility study implemented in January by Lanier Parking Systems, MARTA set aside four end-line station lots comprising 300 spaces for paid, "up close" parking. As an incentive for commuters to park — and, ultimately, ride MARTA trains — MARTA-Lanier cut parking fees to $1 (from $2) per day and to $20 (from $40) per month.
MARTA currently offers 26,000 parking spaces, most of which are dedicated for daily parking.
