The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) will host a "scoping" meeting Feb. 23 to solicit public comments on a proposed station that will connect L.A. International Airport (LAX) to the Metro regional rail system. The Airport Metro Connector (AMC) Transit Station planned near Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street would connect with an automated people mover to be built and operated by Los Angeles World Airports. The proposed station would feature a light-rail stop served by LACMTA's Metro Green and Crenshaw/LAX lines, a bus plaza for Metro and city buses, pedestrian and bicycle amenities, and an enclosed transit center and terminal building that would connect the station with the people-mover station. The new AMC station also will serve as a new transit gateway to LAX for transit riders. At the scoping meeting, LACMTA officials are seeking public input on the scope of the project and the environmental impacts that should be evaluated.
