advertisement
Germany’s Local Transport Authority of Lower Saxony Jan. 24 signed a $100 million contract with Bombardier Transportation to supply 10 locomotives and 66 double-deck cars.
The electric locomotives, which were designed for regional and local service, are class 146 and have a maximum speed of 100 mph. Ten of the double-deck cars were designed as driving trailers.
The Transport Authority plans to use the trains in Regional/Express service on the Hamburg-to-Bremen and Hamburg-to-Uelzen lines beginning in December 2003. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between July and October that year.
