DCTA recognized for COVID-19, Election Day ads

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) in Texas received multiple first-place honors in the 2021 Annual AdWheel Awards, which are presented by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
The AdWheel Awards recognize the marketing and communications efforts of APTA members. There were 363 entries received this year.
The 2021 categories are best marketing and communications regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; best marketing and communications to support ridership or sales; and best marketing and communications educational initiative (non-COVID-19). APTA also created a special COVID-19 category to recognize efforts to communicate health information, showcase employees as essential workers and inform the public about new community safety outreaches.
DCTA received first-place awards in the following categories:
- "Election 2020 Free Ride Campaign Helped Voters Get to the Polls" (best marketing and communications to support ridership or sales);
- "Ride Safe Stay Safe Campaign Informs and Educates Passengers on Agency COVID-19 Efforts" (best marketing and communications on COVID-19);
- "Ride Safe Stay Safe Print Ad Brings Awareness to Agency’s COVID-19 Safety Measures" (best marketing and communications on COVID-19); and
- "A-train Rail Trail Completion Article Brings Readership as the Most-Viewed Blog Post of 2020" (best marketing and communications educational initiative)
The awards will be distributed at the 2021 APTA Marketing & Communications Workshop in Philadelphia Oct. 3-6.
