ALSTOM to supply trainsets for London Underground
advertisement
ALSTOM Transport recently was awarded a $143 million contract to build 59 trailer cars and car trainsets for Tube Lines, which maintains London Underground’s Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.
The trainsets are designed to increase Jubilee Line capacity by lengthening existing trains to accommodate an additional 180 passengers. The seven-car service is expected to start in early 2006.
ALSTOM plans to build the cars at its United Kingdom and European plants.
In 1996, ALSTOM supplied Jubilee Line’s original fleet. The company maintains those cars, as well as rolling stock on London Underground’s Northern Line.
