The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and its commuter-rail operator, the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co., recently announced plans to add commuter-rail service on the Lowell Line.

Beginning Oct. 30, the agency will operate four new trains between Anderson Station and North Station during morning rush hour, and provide frequent service to Anderson Station in the afternoon, including additional service from North Station to Lowell.

“Our goal is to guarantee our customers that they will not have to wait more than 15 to 20 minutes for a train,” said MBTA General Manager Daniel Grabauskas in a prepared statement.
