The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) in Texas has created an 11-step plan to welcome returning commuter-rail riders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan is designed to outline the precautions and safety efforts DCTA is taking during the pandemic to increase rider confidence in the system, DCTA officials said in a press release.

The plan highlights efforts to:

  • enhance cleaning with medical-grade disinfectant;
  • update rail service to ensure safety and social distancing;
  • require employees and riders to wear face masks on trains and at stations;
  • limit business hours of the Downtown Denton Transit Center;
  • install signage to remind riders of ways to stay safe;
  • promote contactless payment options;
  • allow non-essential employees to work from home;
  • install hand sanitizer dispensers on all buses and facilities;
  • increase customer communication efforts; and
  • deliver personal protective equipment to nonprofits in Denton County.

DCTA published its plan in an interactive online format.
