The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has chosen a Fluor Corp.-led joint venture to serve as the design-build team for the $2 billion Green Line light-rail extension. Known as GLX Constructors, the team includes Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc., Herzog Contracting Group and The Middlesex Corp. The project calls for extending the Green Line from its terminus in Cambridge to Somerville, Massachusetts. The extension will include seven new stations and a vehicle storage and maintenance facility. The line will operate within the existing right-of-way for MBTA's Lowell and Fitchburg commuter-rail lines. The extension is projected to serve 45,000 daily riders by 2030."Our team brings an integrated solutions approach to designing and building mega- projects, a legacy of rail experience and a proven track record of delivering complex projects for our clients.
