UTA prepares for Airport TRAX Line's April 14 opening

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has announced plans to hold a grand opening ceremony to mark the start of Airport TRAX Line service on April 14.

The agency will celebrate the line's opening on April 13, the day before the line officially begins regular service as part of UTA's existing Green Line, offering service to the Salt Lake International Airport.

Community celebrations and free public rides throughout the day will mark the occasion, UTA officials said in an announcement posted on the agency's website.

The six-mile Airport TRAX light-rail line will extend the existing TRAX system from the existing ARENA Station at 400 West South Temple to North Temple and the Salt Lake City International Airport. The line will provide direct transfer from the 500 West Station on top of the North Temple Viaduct to FrontRunner commuter-rail lines.

With the TRAX line's opening, UTA will implement changes to bus routes that serve the area, as well as to the FrontRunner schedule to improve connections and travel times, agency officials said.
