UP begins $9.7 million Missouri track project

Union Pacific Railroad recently began a $9.7 million track improvement project between Scott City and Dexter, Mo.

Crews are replacing 94,250 ties; spreading more than 24,000 tons of ballast; and replacing 62 crossing surfaces. Work is scheduled to be completed by July’s end.

The project is part of UP’s $1 billion 2005 maintenance-of-way program.
