Kelso Technologies Inc. recently hired international law firm Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels L.L.P. to serve as outside counsel on long-term corporate finance, European and Asian manufacturing and distribution, and joint venture issues associated with Kelso’s pressure relief valves.

Brown Rudnick has legal experience in the logistics and transportation sectors, including the rail-car industry — Kelso’s initial manufacturing and distribution target for its JS75 pressure relief valve line, Kelso officials said in a prepared statement.

“We believe in synergistic business practices and feel that [Brown Rudnick’s] contacts in the rail sector could definitely work to the benefit of all involved,” said Kelso President and Chief Executive Officer John Carswell.

Meanwhile, Kelso late last month named James Frew chairman of the company’s newly formed rail advisory board. He serves as director-railcar division for Virginia Sealing Products Inc., which recently agreed to help Kelso build market awareness of its pressure relief valves in North America.

Comprising rail industry executives, the board will advise Kelso managers on marketing, customer relation, strategic alliance, engineering, product development, personnel and acquisition issues.
