GT Logistics L.L.C. (GTL) recently marked the first unit train to arrive in Port Arthur, Texas, at GT OmniPort, a multi-modal industrial park and liquids terminal that offers rail, barge, truck, pipeline and deepwater ship transloading services.
The $95 million, 1,100-acre facility is located near petroleum product storage buildings and pipelines serving the region. The facility includes a rail terminal served by Union Pacific Railroad that’s designed to receive unit train traffic and store, switch and transload more than 1,000 freight cars. The deepwater dock is 2.2 miles from the new industrial rail park and terminal and is connected by a UP line and highway.
“This is just the first of many important steps in the process of opening the GT OmniPort for business,” said GTL Principal and President Timothy DeSpain in a prepared statement. “The rail line is key to our success.”
