Rail News: Labor
Canadian Pacific Railway and the United Transportation Union recently reached a tentative agreement covering yardmasters at the railroad's Soo Line subsidiary.
The pact calls for three general wage increases retroactive to Aug 1, 2002, a $500 signing bonus and a performance incentive plan that would boost wages up to 5 percent. The agreement also would improve life, accident and dismemberment benefits, increase supplemental sickness benefits, enhance 401k plan elements and add health-care insurance plan choices.
The UTU plans to present the agreement to members and conduct a ratification vote. Union officials will conduct four town hall meetings later this month to explain the contract's terms.
