CN makes new offer to TCRC

As part of the labor contract bargaining process facilitated by federal conciliators, CN and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) union met last week.
At the meeting, CN proposed a new upgraded offer to the union that includes: better wages, with the proposed hourly rates increasing by CA$5; job security, with employees hired before the agreement's ratification guaranteed employment with no risk of a layoff; and guaranteed earnings, CN officials said in a news release.
Employees who currently earn more than the proposed hourly agreement would have their salaries protected.
Retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024, all TCRC-represented employees would receive a wage increase of 3%. Mileage-based workers would transition to an hourly rate of pay on Jan. 1, 2025.
"Our discussions with the TCRC have been and will remain focused on improving employee work-life balance and work safety while also increasing predictability and flexibility in schedules, giving employees more time with guaranteed consecutive days off and equitable compensation," CN officials said.
TCRC-represented employees received a letter with a summary of the new offer.
