Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) members on Feb. 13 ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with Genesee & Wyoming Inc.'s Huron and Eastern Railway (HESR).
The new agreement calls for compounded wage increases of 18.1% over the contract's lifetime, as well as improvements to vacation and paid time off policies, BMWED officials said in a press release.
The agreement was approved in a 14-4 vote. The 18 employees are members of BMWED's Allied Federation division.
The HESR operates 331 miles of track mostly in the "thumb" region of Michigan. It interchanges with CN, the Great Lakes Central Railroad and Lake State Railway. G&W acquired the railroad in 2012.
