More than 300 United Transportation Union-represented Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad (MBCR) conductors and assistant conductors recently ratified a new contract with Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
Under the contract, MBCR employees will receive a $1,000 "implementation incentive adjustment," and wage increases between July 1, 2003, and July 1, 2007. Employees also will retain benefits previously offered by Amtrak.
On July 1, MBCR took over the system’s operations from Amtrak.
Nearly all employees who worked for MBTA under Amtrak obtained jobs with MBCR, according to a prepared statement.
