KCS hammers out intermodal, rail service deals in U.S. and Mexico

Kansas City Southern’s U.S. and Mexican railroads recently landed business-boosting deals.

The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) finalized an agreement with the city of Kansas City, Mo., Port Authority of Kansas City and CenterPoint Properties under which the railroad will develop an intermodal facility at the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force base. The city, port and developer plan to build the 1,400-acres International Freight Gateway business park and logistics center on the site.

KCSR will work in partnership with CenterPoint Properties to develop the intermodal terminal.

Meanwhile, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) obtained a multi-year contract from PEMEX to continue providing rail service to Mexico’s only government-owned oil company.

In an unrelated personnel move, KCSM also announced it promoted Pedro Garduza Solis from manager of information security to subdirector of information technology (IT) process control and security. He will oversee IT compliance related to Sarbanes Oxley and enterprise security.

Garduza, who joined KCSM predecessor TFM S.A. de C.V. in 1997, has 10 years of IT and transportation industry experience.
