The Port of Long Beach (POLB) handled 842,030 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in May, marking a 31.7% year-over-year increase and registering the third busiest May on record.
Imports rose 40% to 418,851 TEUs, while exports increased 32.9% to 109,168 TEUs and empty containers were up 21.8% to 314,012 TEUs, port officials said in a press release.
Through May, the port has handled 4,050,247 TEUs, up 0.2% compared to the first five months of 2025.
Port CEO Noel Hacegaba and International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 13 President Mario “Moe” Medina appeared together in a video to announce the May cargo numbers.
