The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) is soliciting applications for $488.6 million in Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) grants to fund port infrastructure projects.
Applications are due June 26.
PIDP-funded projects are designed to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of the movement of goods through ports and intermodal connections to ports, including highway and rail infrastructure, MARAD officials said in a press release.
Projects that improve port resiliency, bolster seafood-related businesses, and support environmental and emissions mitigation measures are also eligible. The PIDP will allocate at least 25% of the available funding for small projects at small ports, said USDOT officials.
A notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for this round of PIDP grants was originally published Dec. 23, 2025. The NOFO published last week includes an amendment that increases the amount of available funding and updates rating rubrics, funding priorities and selection criteria.
Specifically, the new NOFO includes priorities for projects that incorporate innovative technology, projects that support national multimodal freight goals, and projects located in Qualified Opportunity Zones, which are communities designated by their state governments as being in economic distress, according to the new NOFO.
The amendment also removes workforce development as a selection consideration.
