The Port of Long Beach (POLB) handled 919,992 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in August, a 2% year-over-year increase from August 2025, making it the port’s busiest August on record.
Imports rose 3.6% to 456,100 TEUs, while exports increased 4% to 99,754 TEUs and empty containers dipped 0.39% to 364,138 TEUs, port officials said in a press release.
Through August, the port has handled 6,678,078 TEUs, up 1.3% compared to the first eight months of 2025.
Port CEO Noel Hacegaba and Capt. Stacey Crecy, commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach, appeared together in a video to announce the August cargo numbers.
“Our August numbers tell us that shippers continue to adapt to tariffs and geopolitical uncertainty and are confident in the Port of Long Beach’s ability to deliver,” Hacegaba said.
