On Monday, the American High Speed Rail Alliance (AHSRA) held a summit with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Deputy Secretary of Transportation John Porcari, and Federal Railroad Administrator Joe Szabo and Deputy Administrator Karen Rae.
During the summit, AHSRA members expressed support for the program and discussed its current status, as well as frameworks for promoting high-speed rail, incentives for public-private partnerships and next steps.
Alliance members also proposed an initiative to modify the U.S. Department of Transportation’s existing Railroad Rehabilitation Improvement Financing loan program to make it “more favorable and practical for high-speed rail project development,” according to a press release.
