The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on May 13 will hold a nomination hearing for David Fink to be administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration and Robert Gleason to be a member of Amtrak's board.

Fink was the former CEO of Pan Am Railway when President-elect Donald Trump in December 2024 announced he would nominate him to run the FRA. Pan Am was a 1,200-mile New England regional that CSX acquired in June 2022.

"David will bring his 45+ years of transportation leadership and success, which will deliver the FRA into a new era of safety and technological innovation," Trump said in a post on Truth Social at that time.

Meanwhile, in March Trump nominated Gleason to serve on Amtrak's board. Gleason is a former chair of Pennsylvania's Republican Party, having served from 2006 to 2017. He has been an advocate for expanding passenger-rail service in Pennsylvania.
